Japan Motor Industrial Federation Decides Its New Management and Business Plan for FY 2000

Tokyo---Japan Motor Industrial Federation, Inc. (JMIF), the organizer for the Tokyo Motor Show, decided on its new management team at its 43rd Annual General Meeting, and the subsequent Board of Directors' Meeting, and its business plan for FY 2000 that began in April of this year.

1. New Chairman and Vice Chairmen
Hiroshi Okuda, chairman of Toyota Motor Corporation and concurrently new chairman of Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), was appointed chairman for JMIF, replacing Yoshifumi Tsuji, counselor, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and ex-chairman of JAMA. 2. Business Plan for FY2000
JMIF will organize the 34th Tokyo Motor Show -Commercial Vehicles- 2000, running from October 31 to November 4, 2000, at the Makuhari Messe, Chiba. This motor show dedicated exclusively to commercial vehicles is the first OICA*-approved international commercial vehicle show to be held in Asia. The exhibits likely to be seen at the show will include mini trucks, light commercial vehicles, light-duty trucks, medium- and heavy-duty trucks, buses, and specially-equipped vehicles such as trailers, dump trucks, concrete mixers, and refuse collectors.

As part of its wide-ranging activities to further cultivate an understanding of the automotive industries by the general public, JMIF will hold a panel discussion named "Talk-in 2000" on the issues surrounding automobiles in society at the venue of the 34th Tokyo Motor Show (Makuhari Messe) on the afternoon of November 3, 2000. The "Talk-in" panel discussion was first conducted in 1975.

JMIF will also publish the "Automotive Guidebook of Japan 2000-2001 (Vol. 47)", which will include photos, specifications, and price information for domestic and major import vehicles, on October 20, 2000. This guide-book has been highly acclaimed, both abroad as well as in Japan, since the 1960s for its extent of coverage and quality.

In addition, JMIF will hold a New Year's party by the five automotive industry associations as follows:
