Chairman’s Comment on the Outcome of Japan’s 27th Upper House Election
Masanori Katayama
Chairman
Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc.
The outcome of Japan’s 27th Upper House election on July 20, 2025 is, we believe, extremely harsh for the ruling coalition.
Japan at present faces a host of difficult challenges both at home and abroad. It is our hope that the ruling coalition in cooperation with opposition parties will push forward various policies without delay to resolve those challenges and implement measures to stimulate domestic demand, so that the Japanese automobile industry can sustain and strengthen its domestic business operations going forward and into the future.
The Japanese automobile industry being a core industry, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association and its member companies will continue to contribute to the development of the Japanese economy by safeguarding manufacturing and employment in Japan.
