Comment on the Japanese Cabinet's Decision to Use Low-Emission Vehicles as Official Government Vehicles

Today the government of Japan took the bold decision to transition to low-emission and other environment-friendly vehicles for use as official vehicles. JAMA commends the government for its initiative on this occasion, and congratulates those responsible for the positive stance the government is thereby assuming in promoting the use of such vehicles.

For its part, JAMA is committed to ensuring the smooth supply of these vehicles and to making further significant progress in their continued development.

To facilitate industry's provision of automobiles that will best serve the diverse requirements of official-use vehicles, it is hoped that the government will, at the earliest opportunity, disclose the number of units to be targeted by this transition program, the schedule for the changeover, and other details pertaining to its enlightened decision in this regard.
