JAMA Welcomes the General Accord on the Japan-Indonesia Economic Partnership Agreement

Fujio Cho, Chairman

The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) welcomes the conclusion of a general accord between Japan and Indonesia on the plan to enter into an economic partnership agreement.  In recognition of this achievement, we would like to express our deepest appreciation to the Government of Japan and to the esteemed organizations and individuals who were instrumental in the realization of this very important step forward.

Like the economic partnership agreement already in force between Japan and Malaysia and the EPA signed this September by Japan and the Philippines, the partnership with Indonesia holds great promise for the Japanese automobile industry in terms of the development of its business in the ASEAN region.

JAMA has high hopes that the expanded trade, investment and industrial cooperation between Japan and Indonesia certain to be realized through this agreement will greatly strengthen the ties between the automobile industries in both countries, which in turn will contribute to the further advancement of this key commercial sector in Japan as well as in Indonesia.
