JAMA Welcomes the Conclusion of Japan-India EPA Talks

Toshiyuki Shiga, Chairman

JAMA welcomes the conclusion of negotiations between Japan and India aimed at the signing of a bilateral economic partnership agreement (EPA) between the two countries. We would like to express our deep appreciation to all the government representatives who devoted so much time and effort to bringing this process to its present stage.

The Indian automobile market has seen very rapid development in recent years. Against that backdrop, Japanese auto industry players have considerably strengthened their presence in India. JAMA has high expectations that the Japan-India EPA will be instrumental in further promoting such activity, and thus contribute to the sound growth of India’s auto sector.

As the ties between Japan and India become closer over the coming years, we look forward to this economic agreement serving to accelerate robust trade and investment initiatives between them. In a broader context, JAMA also favors the early signing of similar agreements that are currently under negotiation, as well as the launch of negotiations with countries and regions not yet engaged with Japan in such a process.
