Itaru Koeda, Nissan Board Co-Chairman, Elected to Lead Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association

The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) at its General Assembly in Tokyo today elected Itaru Koeda to lead the organization for the next two years. Mr. Koeda is the Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.

Mr. Koeda succeeds Yoshihide Munekuni, Chairman of Honda Motor Co., Ltd.

As Nissan's Board Co-Chairman, a position he assumed in 2003, Mr. Koeda is responsible for External and Government Affairs and the Management Committee for Affiliated Companies. Prior to that, Mr. Koeda served as a member of the Board of Directors and an Executive Vice President responsible for purchasing and the European Management Committee.

Mr. Koeda joined Nissan in April 1965. During his 39-year career with the company, he has held various management and leadership positions. He served as the General Manager of several corporate departments, including production control, purchasing, corporate planning and human resources. He also managed production plants in Japan and the United Kingdom.

He graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1965, with a degree in engineering.
