{"id":293,"date":"2023-04-14T10:40:09","date_gmt":"2023-04-14T01:40:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jama.or.jp\/english\/news\/?p=293"},"modified":"2023-07-03T16:03:49","modified_gmt":"2023-07-03T07:03:49","slug":"achieving-carbon-neutrality-in-road-transport-by-2050-reaffirmation-by-the-automobile-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jama.or.jp\/english\/news\/release\/2023\/293\/","title":{"rendered":"Achieving Carbon Neutrality in Road Transport by 2050: Reaffirmation by the Automobile Industry"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"ta_right fs_xs \"  style=\"font-size: 0.82em\">April 4, 2023<br \/>\n                            Updated: April 14, 2023<\/p>\n<p>In November 2022, as global policymakers prepared to gather at the COP27 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Egypt, the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA) released a position paper titled \u201cCarbon Neutrality by 2050,\u201d a comprehensive framework of specific policy recommendations to support the decarbonization of road transport.<\/p>\n<p>For automakers around the world, decarbonizing road transport is a shared goal to which they are committed. However, as the OICA framework emphasizes, there is a need for flexibility through <strong>multiple, technology-open approaches<\/strong> in order to provide <strong>practical and sustainable pathways<\/strong> to carbon neutrality by 2050<strong> for all nations<\/strong>. To achieve carbon neutrality, measures to reduce CO<sub>2<\/sub> emissions from <strong>new vehicles<\/strong>, and also from <strong>in-use vehicles<\/strong>, must be pursued.
