{"id":617,"date":"2025-07-24T18:20:27","date_gmt":"2025-07-24T09:20:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jama.or.jp\/english\/news\/?p=617"},"modified":"2025-07-24T18:20:27","modified_gmt":"2025-07-24T09:20:27","slug":"chairmans-comment-on-japan-u-s-trade-negotiations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jama.or.jp\/english\/news\/comment\/2025\/617\/","title":{"rendered":"Chairman\u2019s Comment on Japan-U.S. Trade Negotiations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><item_contents><\/p>\n<p><strong>Masanori Katayama <br \/>Chairman <br \/>Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following the announced trade deal between Japan and the United States, which includes the automotive sector and a wide range of other sectors, we would like to express our appreciation to all government representatives from Japan and the U.S. for their considerable efforts throughout this process.<\/p>\n<p>JAMA welcomes this deal not only for helping to limit the impact on the entire Japanese automotive industry, including its supply chain, but also for avoiding negatively affecting our members\u2019 customers in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Our fundamental position remains unchanged as we continue to seek a business environment grounded in fair and open trade. Amid an unprecedented rise in global political, economic, and geopolitical uncertainties, we sincerely hope that this deal will serve as a starting point for further improvements in the environment surrounding the automotive industries of both countries.<\/p>\n<p>We respectfully urge the Japanese government to continue future-oriented dialogue with the U.S., including further reductions in tariffs, in order to sustain and develop a stable global business environment.
