Koji Sato
Chairman
Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc.

The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) welcomes the conclusion of negotiations which has been reached between the governments of Japan and the United Arab Emirates on a comprehensive economic partnership agreement.

We wish to convey our respect and gratitude to the officials of both the Japanese and UAE governments for the very considerable efforts they invested in the negotiations leading to this agreement.

For the automotive industry, which operates worldwide, the further promotion of free trade is crucial. Following the conclusion of the Japan-Bangladesh EPA last year, we anticipate that the Japan-UAE economic partnership agreement will also help foster a level playing field and enhanced competitiveness in the automotive sector.

Japan’s automakers are committed to delivering leading-edge products to our customers while contributing to the advancement of the automotive industry and economic development across the globe.

Moreover, in view of current realities in the Middle East, we urge both governments to take every possible measure to ensure the protection of Japanese nationals residing in the region and the security of business and economic activities conducted there.
